What is Import LCL Consolidation?

Import LCL Consolidation, often referred to as Groupage, is a freight shipping solution that combines the cargo of multiple shippers into a single container.

This consolidation process takes place at the origin port, typically at a container freight station. Instead of shipping individual packages separately, businesses can consolidate their goods into a shared container, effectively splitting the shipping costs among multiple parties. This not only reduces costs but also minimizes the environmental impact associated with shipping.

How Import LCL Consolidation Works

Now that we’ve established the advantages, let’s take a closer look at how Import LCL Consolidation actually works:

  1. Cargo Collection: The process begins with cargo collection from various shippers. These can be businesses of any size looking to send their goods overseas.

  2. Consolidation: The collected cargo is brought to a container freight station, where it’s carefully sorted, packaged, and loaded into a shared container. Each shipper’s goods are tracked and labeled to ensure easy identification upon arrival at the destination.

  3. Container Sealing: Once the container is loaded, it’s sealed to prevent unauthorized access during transit. This ensures the security and integrity of the cargo.

  4. Transportation: The sealed container is then transported to the port of departure, where it’s loaded onto the vessel bound for the destination port.

  5. Destination Port: Upon arrival at the destination port, the container is offloaded, and the goods are deconsolidated. Each shipper’s cargo is separated and prepared for delivery or further distribution.
